Apr 16, 2013

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) on Monday signed an agreement with Injaz Oman to train 1,500 students from various colleges of technology and applied sciences in the sultanate as part of a ‘Tourism Challenge’ programme.
The agreement was signed by H E Maitha bint Saif al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary in MoT, and Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, chairman of the board of directors of Injaz Oman.
H E Maitha said that the ministry plans to provide more opportunities to Omani youths and equip them with knowledge and skills that will allow them to look for jobs in the tourism sector.
“This comes in line with the government’s policy and its approach towards supporting the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector, as well as recommendations and decisions of the symposium that was held in Saih al Shamekhat.”
She added that the ‘Tourism Challenge’ programme includes training for the student community on mechanisms to establish and manage tourism projects and familiarise them with opportunities available in the sector.
She said that Injaz Oman was chosen for its extensive experience in training students.
