May 5, 2013

The Ministry of Tourism's delegation headed by Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrazi, the Minister of Tourism, would be participating in the 20th edition of the Arabian Travel Market Exhibition to be held in Dubai from tomorrow.

The Arabian Travel Market is one of the leading exhibitions in the travel and tourism industry and is dedicated to helping companies operate in this vital area to take advantage of opportunities in the Middle East. Oman's participation in the show confirms its position as a tourist destination in the region, placing special focus on its cultural and
tourism heritage.

The last show in 2012 witnessed the participation of 2,436 exhibitors and was attended by more than 23,000 visitors from the region and around the world.

The event is a forum for communication and for the exchange of knowledge gained in the field of tourism; it includes many seminars, workshops, press conferences, and other outreach activities.

This year, one day has been dedicated to showcasing the latest digital products and technology in the field of travel bookings via the Internet through open seminars, which will include the participation of experts and specialists in the field of bookings and related services.

The Ministry of Tourism recently participated in the 29th edition of a cruise ships conference and exhibition in Miami, Florida, with the inclusion of a port services enterprise and some local tourism companies that work with cruise ships.

In addition, the ministry has participated in the activities of the 47th session of the ITB World Travel exhibition in Berlin, which is the largest global exhibition to specialise in the travel and tourism sector.

The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Tourism and institutions from the tourism sector, is keen to participate in this annual forum, which attracts some 11,000 tourism companies representing more than 180 countries.
