Muscat Festival 2014 begins today

The Muscat Municipality will launch the annual Muscat Festival 2014 today at 4 pm in Al Naseem and Al Amerat Public Park. The programmes of the festival includes some new activities that blend the past and the present with the participation of 62 countries from around the world. The Festival offers complete entertainment for families at its various venues. The parks will be open daily at 4 pm until 11. There is an interesting package of activities awaiting the festival-goers. Muscat Municipality has put the last technical equipment and finished the preparations of the sites that host the festival activities and events both in Al Naseem Park, Al Amerat Park and along Al Seeb beach (in Al Hail).
The municipality has completed the maintenance works of the integrated Heritage Village that was launched in the past year with an area of 45 thousand square metres. The village includes  replicas of traditional souqs such as Muttrah souq and a special mini village for craftsmen from different governorates in Oman. The entrance, towers, paintings on the walls and the entire village is made to show the beauty of Omani architecture. The village is all surrounded by palm trees, water wells, and stalls to sell Omani traditional food. Other than the Heritage Village, Al Amerat Park also includes the International Festival of Arts and Crafts, international bands of traditional arts, events, family shows, fireworks and Asala TV programme.
The programme is broadcast from the Heritage Village and aims to define the role of traditions, and customs in the Omani culture. There are some sites that exhibit Omani foods for the visitors to enjoy the different types of Omani cuisines. The park hosts international exhibition of arts, heritage, creativity and markets that reflect the culture of Oman. The exhibition embodies communication and cooperation with other peoples and establishes the principle of peace, and the models of cultural interaction among civilisations. It includes 12 pavilions, each with 14 stalls to exhibit the crafts. The whole exhibition is supplied with the needed lights and the systems of safety along with the Islamic pattern of archaeology.
There are three entrances for Al Amerat Park for visitors coming from Al Amerat-Qurayat- Bausher roads, while visitors coming from Wadi Adai can enter the park via Al Akhdhar roundabout. Al Naseem Park opens daily from 4 pm with 200 baisa as entry fee. Eight gates are opened to receive the visitors and the park is prepared to host many activities including the consumer exhibition that consists of 400 stalls. Al Naseem Park also includes a city of entertainment and games that has many electrical games that suit different age groups. The sites of the Festival are equipped with different facilities like praying areas, resting areas for the participating teams, offices for the festival committees, public toilets, restaurants, information booths stages, multi-purpose theatre and others.
The municipality finished the expansion of the parking lots to accommodate the largest possible number of vehicles, taking into account the system of traffic safety and easy mobility between lanes. There are more than 5,000 rear parking and 800 front parking in Al Naseem Park venue. In Al Amerat Park, an area of 130 thousand square metres is paved for parking lots on the eastern and western sides of the park to accommodate 5,200 vehicles. The cleaning process will be conducted twice a day, in the day and evening time to receive visitors in a healthy clean environment.
