Meeting held to facilitate tourist visa with ROP help

An introductory meeting between the Ministry of Tourism and the private sector was held at Park Inn Hotel to discuss means of facilitating tourist visa with participation form the Royal Oman Police. The meeting was attended by Maithaa bint Saif al Mahrouqiyah, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism. The Under-Secretary pointed out that the visa system in the Sultanates is one of the easiest systems on the world level. She praised the role of the Royal Oman Police in preserving security as the Sultanate is one of the leading countries in terms of security and safety.

She attributed the rejection of visas for some tourist to reasons related to preserving order and security. She added that the visas for tourist on board of vessels have become easier than before. Lt Col Nasser bin Said al Abri, Director of Visas at the Directorate-General of Passports and Residence at Royal Oman Police presented a working paper where he pointed out that the tourist visas fall into two categories namely visas for 10 days and 30 days.

The second type is the air transit visa, the visas for tourist vessels passengers and crew members. Major Abdullah bin Said al Kalbani of the Directorate General of IT at ROP gave an overview on the e-visa and pointed out that it aims at facilitating the procedures for all the Sultanate visitors.
