Travelex Oman Tourism Ambassador Awards winners announced
Travelex Oman, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, successfully hosted the inaugural Travelex Oman Tourism Ambassador Awards ceremony under the auspices of Maitha Saif Majid al Mahrouqi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, on December 4.
Maitha al Mahrouqi said: “It is clear the Travelex Oman Tourism Ambassador Awards have been met with real enthusiasm across the Sultanate. There are many stories of personal achievement, initiative and entrepreneurship to be taken from the winners here tonight. At a time when tourism is playing such a vital part in the future of our economy, the awards are an excellent means to highlight its success and Travelex have created a platform to recognize this.”
The panel of judges, which consisted of six highly respected members of the tourism industry in Oman, presided over the judging process, bringing invaluable experience and knowledge. The winners of each of the 10 categories were carefully selected from the 110 nominations that were received and were presented with their awards in the presence of nearly 150 people from the Omani Tourism industry at Bait al Nahdah, Bait al Zubair Museum.
The winners of each category are as follows:
Gold Award: Oman
Tourism Ambassador of the Year was won by Clara Zawawi of Ocean Blue International.
Regional Ambassador Awards: Ed Nicholas of No Boundaries, Oman (Dhofar region), Muna al Zadjali of Ladies of Sidab (Muscat region), Mohsin al Busaidy of Oman Sail (Batinah/Musandam), and Humaid al Hajri of Desert Retreat Camp (Dakhliya/Sharqiyah).
The Best Customer Service Award was won by Rebecca Mayston of The Guide Oman, while the Best Small Operator award went to Hud Hud Travels.
Wisal al Harthy of 1000 Nights Camp was chosen for the Young Ambassador of the Year.
In the Best Hotel/
Tour Operator of the Year
category, Zahara Tours clinched the award while the Ocean Blue International bagged the Sustainable Tourism Ambassador of the Year award.
