Oman Air is the national airline of Oman. Based at Muscat International Airport, it operates scheduled domestic and international passenger services, as well as providing local air taxi and charter flights. Oman Air is a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization.
The airline was established in 1981 and started operations in 1993. It was formed as the result of a merger between the former Gulf Air Light Aircraft division and Oman International Services, to become Oman Aviation Services. The Omani government holds an 82.4% majority stake in the airline, while the remaining 17.6% is in the hands of other investors.
Oman Air is currently operates direct international flights from Muscat major Gulf destinations such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Riyadh, Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait, Beirut, Cairo and Amman besides 10 destinations in the Indian subcontinent ( New Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Jaipur) Karachi in Pakistan, Chitagong in Bangladesh, in It also flies to London in Europe and Bangkok in the Far East, Internal flights go to Muscat, Salalah and Khasab.
